Mahesh R Tapas, PhD
I am Dr. Mahesh Ramesh Tapas, a dedicated researcher specializing in watershed modeling, hydrology, and sustainable water management. I earned my Ph.D. in Integrated Coastal Sciences from East Carolina University in 2024, where my dissertation focused on the "Integrative Analysis of Policy Changes for a Coastal Watershed: Implications for Agriculture and Ecosystem Health." This interdisciplinary program allowed me to merge environmental engineering, data analytics, and econometrics providing a comprehensive approach to solving complex water resource challenges.
Prior to this, I completed a Master of Water Resources Engineering at the National Institute of Technology, Warangal, in 2020. My master's research involved the development of a multivariate integrated drought monitoring index (MIDMI) for the Warangal region of Telangana, India, enhancing the assessment and management of drought conditions using satellite imagery and vegetation indices. My academic journey began at Savitribai Phule Pune University, where I obtained my Bachelor of Civil Engineering in 2018 with a GPA of 3.98. During my undergraduate studies, I laid the foundation for my interest in environmental engineering and water resource management.
I am currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at The Ohio State University, where I continue to explore advanced hydrological models and conservation practices to improve water quality in vulnerable ecosystems.

Each of these academic milestones has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to contribute to sustainable water management practices, both in research and in real-world applications, and I am grateful to my advisors and collaborators who have guided and supported me throughout this journey.
